MISSION 6: St. Petersburg
6.ii - Military Archives

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • In order to make up time (important only in one mission, but it sometimes seems to take forever to start), hit the Start button during the opening film and then again when the POV zooms up to Bond to get inside his head.
  • Guards cannot see over railings or short walls, even though you can see them.
  • Guards generally take a moment to "set" - move their firearm from carrying position to firing position. This is the best time to kill them.
  • Always use Auto-Aim unless you have time to manually aim. (As far as this site goes, you should only aim manually when I specifically say to aim at something or if I say to shoot someone or something in a specific place. For instance, if I tell you to shoot someone in the head, you will need to manually aim. Otherwise, use Auto-Aim - that's what it's there for!)
  • Never rely on your Auto-Aim for up and down stairways, ladders, etc.
  • Never engage the enemy in a face-to-face gunfight. Get around a corner and wait for them to come to you. Pick them off as they round the corner and attempt to set.
  • The KF7 is your most handy gun, although it is loud. A tip: when aiming, a quick tap on the trigger will fire one bullet. This is usually sufficient to dispatch a guard shot in the head and generally does not attract the attention of other guards. When using Auto-Aim, a quick tap on the trigger will fire three bullets. This is usually sufficient to dispatch a guard shot in the chest (where Auto-Aim generally aims) and, when used inside rooms or far away from other guards, does not attract their attention the way a huge outburst of gunfire would. It also conserves ammo!
  • Don't switch guns until I tell you to!
  • Reload often - after every bad guy if possible.
  • Unless otherwise specified, always take your time! This walk-through is to get you finished the game, not to achieve the cheats. Speed is not necessary and, in most cases, will get you killed.

    This mission is extremely difficult if you do it wrong, but can be quite a breeze if you follow my instructions. In fact, if you do it all correctly, you can get the record time and achieve the cheat. The main thing to remember is that you will not need to use your gun until the very end. Map: There are purple lines perpendicular to the doors you will use. These indicate the direction the door opens. Back off or zip through as applicable.

    From your starting position, be very careful about side-stepping out from behind the table. DO NOT touch the table or try to pick up the gun and ammo on it. You don't need it. If you pick up either the gun or the ammo, the guards will shoot you. Just walk nicely over to the guard on the right and smack him in the head. (Be careful you do not walk past him towards the door or they will shoot you.) He will die and give you his gun and a key.Get out of there quickly, before the other guard clues in and starts shooting you. The door opens inward, so back up as you open it. Open the next door and zip through before the guard in the hall starts shooting you. Zip across this room and hang a right at the end. Go up the stairs, through the door and then hang a left. Smack any guards you meet. You just need to get them out of your way - you don't need to kill them.

    Go to the end of the hall and through the door, straight down the walkway and through the door on your left, at the top of the stairs at the end. Just whiz past this guard - try putting some bookcases between you and he. Open the door to the room where Natalya (the big N) is being held. Let her see you, then run back to the double doors where you just came in.

    Run down the stairs (marked with a C), hang a left off the stairs, then go through the first door on your right (#1) - back off when you open it. Go left and straight through that door (#2) then a quick left and through that door. Hurry up to Mishkin (the big M) and have a nice leisurely chat with him. Turn to the door and watch for guards. There shouldn't be any, but there might be one. If there is, go and smack him around until he succumbs to your hands of death. Be careful of Natalya - apparently she's the only one in the whole place who has the presence of mind to follow you. If you get too far away from Mishkin, he'll stop talking to you. Also, don't slap anyone near him - he may have to shoot you. Once you get the key from him, open the safe that is behind him. If he is in your way, smack him out or shoot him. You can now switch to your gun - the DD44.

    Get the Flight Recorder from the safe, then leave by the door at #3. Turn a quick left and go out the door at the end of the hall. Go towards #4, shoot out the window and exit. That is the end.

    In case you felt tempted to use a gun before I told you that you could, and you are still alive to tell the tale, Natalya has probably buggered off to a "safer" place. If this is the case, you will find her either in the attic (illustrated above), or on the main floor, in a room guarded by three men in black (hard to kill). There's a big "N?" on the map, but I'm not even going to tell you how to get there - you disgust me!

    MISSION 6.iii - Streets

    ACHIEVE THE CHEAT TIME

    You must finish this mission on the 00 Agent level in 1:20 or less.

    Exactly as above. In fact, if you followed those instructions, you should be fairly close to the cheat time already. Now, just do it faster!

    For reference, my best time is 1:19. No, I don't wanna hear how fast you made it!
