7.iii - Water Caverns

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • In order to make up time (important only in one mission, but it sometimes seems to take forever to start), hit the Start button during the opening film and then again when the POV zooms up to Bond to get inside his head.
  • Guards cannot see over railings or short walls, even though you can see them.
  • Guards generally take a moment to "set" - move their firearm from carrying position to firing position. This is the best time to kill them.
  • Always use Auto-Aim unless you have time to manually aim. (As far as this site goes, you should only aim manually when I specifically say to aim at something or if I say to shoot someone or something in a specific place. For instance, if I tell you to shoot someone in the head, you will need to manually aim. Otherwise, use Auto-Aim - that's what it's there for!)
  • Never rely on your Auto-Aim for up and down stairways, ladders, etc.
  • Never engage the enemy in a face-to-face gunfight. Get around a corner and wait for them to come to you. Pick them off as they round the corner and attempt to set.
  • The KF7 is your most handy gun, although it is loud. A tip: when aiming, a quick tap on the trigger will fire one bullet. This is usually sufficient to dispatch a guard shot in the head and generally does not attract the attention of other guards. When using Auto-Aim, a quick tap on the trigger will fire three bullets. This is usually sufficient to dispatch a guard shot in the chest (where Auto-Aim generally aims) and, when used inside rooms or far away from other guards, does not attract their attention the way a huge outburst of gunfire would. It also conserves ammo!
  • Don't switch guns until I tell you to!
  • Reload often - after every bad guy if possible.
  • Unless otherwise specified, always take your time! This walk-through is to get you finished the game, not to achieve the cheats. Speed is not necessary and, in most cases, will get you killed.

    Again, if not for the drone guns at the end, this would be a great mission.

    You start in an elevator, but that's your only advantage here. That and the ZMG you are carrying. Get to the left of the doors and open them, then inch your way out. This isn't as easy as elsewhere since the elevator has a bit of a lip that holds you back. Take care and shoot the first guard in the head. The second guard will come to the elevator and you can kill him. The third guard on the Map is actually Trevelyan (marked with a big T). He won't move until he sees you, and then he'll run away and shut all the doors behind him. If you make too much noise (almost inevitable) one of the guards from around the corner will come to you. If you kill him on your side of the corner, you'll be able to sneak up on the last guard. Otherwise he might come for you. The guards with blue hats are harder to kill than the other guards. Don't take too much time with them either - they are not as affected by bullets tearing through their flesh as the regular guards who will actually pause when you shoot them.

    Go through the doors here and kill the guard on the other side. The noise will attract others, but kill them too. One of these guards is carrying an AR33. Although it is a great gun with huge stopping power, there are not a lot of bullets for it in this mission, so use it sparingly. Stick with the ZMG. As you round the corner going down the stairs you will see that at least one of the guards is still standing at the entrance to the catwalk. Kill him easily. Go to #1 and switch to your AR33. As long as you don't round the corner, those guards can't see you. Line up the guard with the blue hat and shoot him three times in the face. If both shots connected, he should go down. Quickly switch back to the ZMG and line up the main walkway so that you can shoot the other guard as he comes for you. You'll have to give the blue-hatted guard another couple of shots if he's not dead yet.

    Go open the doors and stand back a little, but right in front of the doors. Auto-Aim through these doors is not always good, so it's your call here: stand and deliver, or let that guard see you and then back off and to the side and wait for him to come to you. (If you have been having troubles getting Auto-Aim to work for you under normal circumstances, go with the latter choice.)

    Kill the guard on the other side of the door - he's fairly oblivious so should be easy. Depending on how much noise you've made, there may or may not be a guard still waiting near #2. If he's there, get on the stairs, line him up and give him a shot to the head. Get back up on the catwalk and go to #3 and look down. See the guard with a blue hat? Keep looking - he's there. Find him and line him up with your AR33. Three shots should bring him down. Switch back to the ZMG and take out the guard to your right, on the catwalk (marked with a purple X to denote he is on the catwalk, not the spiral ramp).

    Now you can go down the stairs and take out the Inlet Pump Controls at #2. Be careful - there are scientists here that CANNOT be killed. You cannot spare any scientists because you will have to kill one or two at the end and if you kill three you fail. Get them to leave by getting in their face. They should scurry away and/or put their hands up. When the hands go up, fire one shot over their head (or beside, but be careful - if he side-steps into the bullet, he will die). Don't waste bullets - only fire one shot. If you are not good at limiting your shots with the ZMG, switch to the PP7.

    Once the scientist is safely away, you can plant a timed mine between the computers and get back. It should blow them both. Now go around to #4 and repeat the process with both scientists. Be cautious - if you make too much noise, the guard on the other side of the door to the spiral ramp will come in. You should be able to hear the doors opening.

    If you plant a single mine directly in the middle, it should blow the whole thing up. If not, give the still-living computer a shot and it should die.

    Make sure you have your ZMG armed and go through the doors to the spiral ramp. Shoot that guy if he isn't already dead. Now go up the ramp and watch for the patrols. If you're lucky, they will be walking away from you and you can line 'em up and give 'em one in the head. If they're coming at you, give 'em a few in the chest. Since this ramp is curved, they won't be able to see you until they are almost too close.

    At the top of the ramp is a guard that you can pick off without being seen due to the curve. Open the doors at #5 and deal with those guards. These are the toughest ones, but if you stay around the corner of the door, you should be OK. If you get into trouble, run a few metres down the ramp and pick 'em off as they chase you - the curve again becoming your asset. From one of these guards you will pick up two ZMGs. As soon as you do, arm them both. You should continue with double-fisted ZMGs.

    Go into the room at #5 and tiptoe around the right of the big rock pillar in the middle of the room. There should still be two or three guards standing on the other side. Pick off the easy one in the head and then charge at the blue hat. If you don't charge, he may come at you from behind. Or maybe not....

    Open the next doors. Be careful of that guard in the middle of the catwalk - he sees you coming. You might wanna get back and wait for him. Finish him off and go out on the catwalk. Kill the guard on the left in the head. Someone will come from the right. Kill him too. Don't get to the top of the stairs or the guy down there will kill you. At #6 the map is drawn incorrectly. I tried to fix it, but I couldn't visualize it properly. This is closer to what is in the game, but not accurate. Anyway, do your best and kill the two guards on the other side of the stairwell. One is a blue hat, so he'll probably come after you. Just kill him good. From #7 you can pick off the next guard on the catwalk. You can also pick off the guard below him. Back up even with the railing around the stairs and lean over the left railing and pick off the other guy on the lower level.

    Go to #8 and peek around the corner. Take out the further guard first, then the nearer one. At some point here, the guard at the door at #13 may come to investigate. Take him out as you would any other. If he doesn't come, slide out to the railing and line him up and take him down. From here you should be able to see between the railing and the rock face to the level below. There are two guards down there. Line up the one at the far end, between the catwalk and the rock face (you may have to kneel). Then back up and lean out the other side of the railing and take down that guard (again, you may have to kneel).

    #9 is a fun one if you do it right. Line up the two nearer guards so that the second one's head is directly behind the first one's head. Use the AR33 and pop one through the first guard. They should both go down. Sweet! Of course, this is going to alert the last guard, so switch to the ZMG and take him down at your leisure. At #10, be careful. This guard has his back to you, but he's also a bit psychic. If you step out behind him, he'll turn. Take him down before you turn the corner. Same thing with the next guard. He's usually got dark hair, which is hard to make out from this ditance against the dark rock, so if you need to use the scope on the AR33, go ahead.

    Keep the AR33 and go to the very corner of the railing (just past #11). Take aim on the blue hat guard and fire three into his face. Switch quickly to the ZMG and take out his partner when he comes for you. Kill the blue hat if he comes for you too (if he doesn't, he's dead).

    Go back to #11 and shoot through the lower left side of the second window from the right. Just until it breaks. Then get ready for the guards who come out. There will be one or two. One is a blue hat, but he is carrying a keycard and, more importantly, an RC-P90! Yeah, that's right: THE BEST GUN IN THE GAME!!!

    Now comes the slightly scary part and the Rambo part! Collect the keycard that the first blue hat dropped (the guard who was standing by the door). If you killed him where you stood, you're safe. If you killed him at the doors (good for you!), you will have to go over there and get it. The scary part? At the bottom of the stairs at #12 are two guards who are pretty good at shooting up stairs. Stay to the left (facing the door) and they won't see you. Get the keycard then it's time to Rambo. Turn around and face the stairs. Switch to the RC-P90, side-step to the stairs and run down them, firing as you go. Auto-Aim is not good, but this gun will fire 80 bullets before it needs reloading, so just keep firing until these guys are dead. Now continue along this walkway and collect all the guns and ammo.

    If you are low on ammo, you can go keep going past the stairs and into the big room there. There is a huge cache of weapons and ammo here - you just have to blow up the crates. Plant a mine in the middle and let it do the work. Go around and collect as much ammo as you can hold. Note that there are guns here but also tiny cartridges which are difficult to see against the mottled rock colouring. Just wander around lots and then use your top C button to look at the ground carefully.

    Go around and back up the stairs at A, then go to #13. Open these doors and be ready to return fire. If you stand at the opening of the door (don't step through), you should Auto-Aim down the stairs opposite. Just keep on shooting. The other guards here will come after you, but don't fret, just shoot. The RC-P90 has the ability to penetrate almost everything (like the AR33), so killing two guards with one bullet is easy. If you get overwhelmed, step back (make sure the door didn't close behind you) and wait for them. Remember: the RC-P90 shoots through steel doors, too, so use that to your advantage by shooting the guards before they can get the doors open!

    The guards all act differently every time, so you're kind of on your own here. Just kill until they are all dead. The two guards hiding behind the lockers on the right usually don't come out and the drone gun on the left can be killed from the doorway without it ever seeing you. Kill the drone gun and wait to see if any guards come from that direction. Then step out of the door and shoot along the length of the lockers (side-stepping) until the two guards there are dead. Don't go and look, just wait to see if they come out after you.

    Go to the top of the stairs and look down. If you are lucky, the blue hat guard will still be there, at the bottom of the stairs behind some boxes. Fill him full of holes, then go and collect the keycard he dropped. Kill the Outlet Pump Controls (one computer at the bottom of the stairs, two on the other side of that big mechanism and then one more to your right).

    Now go back to #12 and go in the doors. Go in quickly and get to #15. You will have to kill the AR33-toting guard at the far end (to your right as you enter), but just stand and deliver from your distance. Don't get in front of the control area. This is the second hardest part of the mission. Inside that control area are four guards. Each one has an RC-P90 and grenades. They like to throw grenades. Also inside that control area is the radio that you need to use to contact Jack Wade. If they blow themselves up with the grenades, they will also blow up the radio. (I have played it only once when they blew up everything except the radio - it's extremely rare since the room also has the Master Control Console and a good collection of barrels!)

    You can try to pick them off, but they are really stupid. The area is surrounded by glass, but they still throw grenades at you. They bounce off the glass and back at them. The best way to do this is the element of surprise. Action beats reaction. From #15, charge in to #16 and hit the B button to activate the radio, then run back out to #15. With any luck, they will blow themselves up. If not, just peek around the corner and shoot a barrel or two with your RC-P90. There are usually one or two scientists in there and they are gonna die. This is why you can't kill any other ones.

    Now go through the door at #17. Kill the two guards there. You can get them through the door, but Auto-Aim will not kick in until the door is fully open. Go through the next door at #18 and kill those guards. Sometimes one of them will run at you. That's OK, he can die too.

    Now comes the toughest part. Open the first door at #19. Quickly go back and close the door at #18 then go back and open the next door at #19 and back off. Shoot straight down the tunnel (didn't we see this in The Six Million Dollar Man? Yes, Episode 55: The Secret Of Bigfoot, Part One) and kill the guards down there, but stay back far enough to not get shot by the two drone guns mounted on the ceiling of the tunnel. Turn around and make sure that door (#18) is still closed. If it is open or is opening, you will have to fight off the three guards who will come after you. Try to shut the door before it reaches fully open. This might keep them away. If it doesn't work, you will have to kill these guards. Kill three then shut the door. This should give you enough time to switch to the AR33 and take out the two drone guns in the tunnel. You've gotta be quick about this because the doors will close. Remember, the AR33 will shoot through the steel doors, so keep shooting at the drone guns even when the doors are closing.

    Once you've killed the drone guns, switch to the RC-P90 and take one more look to #18 and make sure it's closed. If not, go close it or fight off the guards then close it. Go through #19 and shut the doors behind you. Run down the tunnel (don't worry, you won't suffer the same fate as Colonel Steve Austin) and open the doors. Shoot any guards in your way and get to the elevator at the end. That's all.

    MISSION 7.iv - Antenna Cradle

    ACHIEVE THE CHEAT TIME

    You must finish this mission on the 00 Agent level in 9:30 or less.

    Same as above, but really, really fast. Don't kill any scientists. Don't die. And don't take so long! (It took me forty-five minutes to complete this mission the first time I did it! A little bit too cautious!)

    For reference, my best time is 5:54. No, I don't wanna hear how fast you made it!

    Whaddaya get for it? Double RC-P90s (Mission only).
